SAVANNAH - Anne Pittman Byrd, 90, died Saturday, December 15, 2012, at Candler Hospital.

The Thomasville, GA native was a longtime resident of Isle of Hope where she was a member of the Wymberly Garden Club. Mrs. Byrd was a member of Isle of Hope United Methodist Church, the Sparklers Bible Study Group, and the Wylly Dupon Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Savannah Christian Women's Club.

Mrs. Byrd is survived by her children, Carleton W. Byrd, Jr. Cindy, Kerry A. Byrd, Barbara B. Mitchell Richard, and Richard E. Byrd Jan; her sister, June P. Roeck; seven grandchildren, Patrice Brown, James and Madison Mitchell, Amy Harvey, Christopher, Megan, and Sarah Byrd; and two great-grandchildren, Emalee and Halee Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Blanche Pittman, her husband, Carleton William Byrd, Sr., her brother, Claude H. Pittman, and a grandson, Richard Own Mitchell, Jr.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Wednesday at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 20, 2012, at Isle of Hope United Methodist Church.

Interment will follow in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.

The family suggests remembrances be made to Isle of Hope United Methodist Church, 412 Parkersburg Rd., Savannah, GA 31406 or to the Greater Savannah Humane Society, 7215 Sally Mood Dr., Savannah, GA 31406.

The family would like to thank Mrs. Byrd's caregivers for their devoted service, Barbara Smith and her daughters, Lucy, Shawn, and Mo.
